The Dovo 186 Adjustable Tension Leather Razor Strap is a classic tool for trimming your straight razor. First, tighten the mechanics, then, as usual, gently pull the razor over the conditioned leather. With this you can also straighten the edge of your conventional knives. Vegetable tanned leather is characterized by good skin compatibility.

Advantages

For our Strops leather straps, we use exclusively vegetable-tanned cowhide leather. This technique, also called “old tanning”, prepares the leather for optimal use. We treat our leather this way to ensure it does not show any scars or irregularities, making it ideally suited for sharpening straight razors thanks to its soft surface.

How to use it

Before you shave with a classic straight razor, you need to sharpen it. To do this, place your blade with its back and edge on the taut strap and pull it backwards without pressure. Once you've reached the end, turn the blade on its back and repeat the process for the other side. After 10 to 15 passes, the blade is ready for a perfect shave.

Your high-quality "Strop" leather strap is made of vegetable-tanned leather. To prevent it from drying out, you should not hang or store it in direct sunlight or near a heat source. You should also avoid storing it in the humidity of the bathroom. Occasional polishing with leather balm preserves the smooth surface of the "Strop" leather strap.
